March 13, 2023By Katie Chatfield, MPH, RDN, LD, Nutrition Manager
CACFP Week is a national education and information campaign sponsored by the National CACFP Sponsors Association. It kicks off Monday, March 13 and runs through the end of the week, concluding on Friday, March 17.
CACFP week is all about raising awareness of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), highlighting how it works to combat hunger and providing helpful tools to help providers with healthy eating for the children in their care.
CACFP week is all about raising awareness of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), highlighting how it works to combat hunger and providing helpful tools to help providers with healthy eating for the children in their care.
What is CACFP
CACFP exists to combat hunger and promote nutrition. It is a federal program that provides reimbursement for nutritious meals and snacks to eligible children and adults who are enrolled for care at participating child care centers, day care homes, and adult day care centers.
Providers Choice is one of the largest sponsors of the CACFP in the U.S. In 2022, providers participating with Providers Choice served over 13 million healthy meals and snacks! Because we are passionate about children and prioritizing their nutrition, supporting the CACFP and the providers who feed children is the core of what we do and the focus of our mission.
CACFP Week for You
There are many ways to get involved with CACFP Week and take advantage of the resources being offered. This year’s theme is a play on the CACFP letters. C is for Community, A is for Awareness, C is for Children, F is for Food Program and P is for Participate! Throughout the week there will be various webinars, giveaways, tools and resources that promote and support the CACFP hosted through the National CACFP Sponsors association.
What is PCI doing to support?
Providers Choice will be celebrating CACFP Week on social media! Join us on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn for new creatively creditable recipes, resources, and tips for success on the Food Program. Supporting our providers is the core of what we do; this week is all about YOU!
